Kill experience in classic WoW is the XP a mob gives when it dies; it is 45 plus 5 times your level at equal level, 5% more per level above you.
mob of your level: XP = 45 + 5 × your level
higher-level mob: × (1 + 0.05 × (mob level − your level))
lower-level mob: less, falling to nothing at the level where the mob turns grey
elite mob: × 2
Kill experience is set by your level, nudged for the level difference and doubled for elites. A grey mob gives nothing; the level at which a mob turns grey rises with your own (5 levels below you at low levels, more later).
| Level 30, kills a level-30 mob | 45 + 150 = 195 XP |
| Level 30, kills a level-32 mob | 195 × 1.10 = 214 XP |
| Level 30, kills a level-32 elite | 214 × 2 = 428 XP |
| Level 59, kills a level-60 mob | (45 + 295) × 1.05 = 357 XP |
